Southend-in-Bloom, SIB, has been running since 1995. SIB is run by a committee of volunteers and supported by Southend Borough Council. SIB is part of "Britain In Bloom" which is one of Europe's largest horticulture campaigns in which over one thousand cities, towns and villages participate each year. Each community takes part in the campaign to show off their achievements in environmental responsibility, community involvement and, of course, horticulture.

The aim of SIB is to encourage all Southend residents, schools and business owners to take pride in the town and surroundings, to clean up and to green the local area.
